Blend is back
So we’re back after the COVID lockdown. However, like most companies right now we’re not quite fully up to speed. We currently have to work around social distancing and COVID safe guidelines. At least we are starting to work in the studio, as I think all of us here were getting a little frustrated working from home.
As predominantly a studio based studio it’s quite hard to fulfil any types of jobs at home over the last few months. That said, we did a few bits and bobs in the studio which kept us ticking over. During the lockdown for about five weeks, we actually performed a few projects for a large client of our, an Advertising Agency working on behalf of The North face. This work proved really helpful for us. However, these shoots certainly didn’t have the same feel as we had to work on our own, in isolation and COVID safe. We sent the images as we shot them to the client for comments. We worked around and through the difficulties – but it certainly wasn’t ideal.
Most of our staff that could work from home did, some went on furlough, which certainly helped when work inevitably dried up a bit.
But now out of lockdown, as far as we are concerned, things are getting back to some sort of normality. When I say normal, I mean the “new normal”. We keep our distance from each other (and clients) as much as possible, 1m+ I think it’s called. We sanitize all equipment, and we’re currently not providing food and drink for our shoots. We normally do.
The last couple of weeks and for the preceding two weeks, we are looking rather busy again – which is great. We are currently shooting for a very high-end fragrance company, creating new content for their eCommerce website. It’s about 300 shots in total. They’re having creative type packshots and also styled creative. We’ll post the finished pictures for you to see once we know that the images are live.
We’re excited to be back. All our staff, I’m pleased to report, are healthy and well. Our team love what they do. It was frustrations all round not to be working as much as we usually do. When we’re busy, there’s a buzz and energy in the studio that can’t be beaten.
So providing there’s no second lockdown, personally and as a company, we’ve come out the other side pretty much unscathed. I obviously feel for companies and individuals that haven’t. It’s been hard on a lot of people. Of course, Let’s hope there’s no second lockdown. If we all do our bit, I suppose, we can avoid it. Stay alert (haha) if you like, keep your distance, washing hands and no hugging 🙂
